765 coaches at institutions in Worcester County earned $42,499 on average in 2022

Worcester County’s 765 coaches earned an average salary of $42,499 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the fourth highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Massachusetts post-secondary schools during 2022.

Worcester County is home to nine post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, College of the Holy Cross stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $100,440.

Male coaches of men's teams received $47,899 on average in Worcester County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $36,117.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
