GATES & BATCHELDER EARN PATRIOT LEAGUE HONORS

Senior forward Gerrale Gates and freshman guard Will Batchelder, members of the Holy Cross men's basketball team, have been honored by the Patriot League for their play during the 2022-2023 season. In voting by the conference's head coaches, Gates was named to the All-Patriot League second team, while Batchelder was selected to the Patriot League All-Rookie team.

Gates, who earns All-Patriot League honors for the third straight season, has averaged 16.3 points, 8.6 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.1 blocked shots per game this year. He concluded the regular season ranked first in the conference in scoring and rebounding, third in blocks, sixth in steals and eighth in assists. Gates has led the team in scoring 14 times and in rebounding 21 times this season, while scoring in double-digits 29 times and posting 12 double-doubles. During his three years with the Crusaders, he has now totaled 1,172 points, 605 rebounds, 171 assists, 86 steals and 60 blocks. Gates becomes just the fifth three-time All-Patriot League selection in program history, joining Rob Feaster (1993-1995), Kevin Hamilton (2004-2006), Keith Simmons (2005-2007) and Andrew Keister (2009-2011).

Batchelder has averaged 12.2 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game this year, while hitting 41.3 percent (85 of 206) of his shots from three-point range. He finished the regular season ranked first in the league three-pointers made, ninth in three-point field goal percentage and 14th in scoring. Batchelder also broke the school single-season record for three-pointers made, while scoring in double-figures 19 times.

Holy Cross (10-21 overall, 7-11 Patriot League) returns to action on Tuesday, Feb. 28, when it travels to Loyola (Md.) for a 7:00 p.m. game in the first round of the Patriot League Tournament.
